Claude Code's limit boost extended again, after Anthropic's three-hour outage
Claude Code's higher weekly limits were supposed to shrink back this week; instead, Anthropic extended them through August 31 and says it hopes to make the boost permanent. The announcement went out the same Tuesday evening Anthropic's own platform recovered from a nearly three-hour outage. New data from Linear, published the same week, shows AI already writes about half of the tickets moving through it. Away from Anthropic, Qualcomm-owned Modular put its entire Mojo compiler under an open license, a year that started with an acquisition and this week ended with the code itself going public.

Claude Code's 50% limit boost extended again — now through August 31
Anthropic raised Claude Code's weekly usage limits by 50% on May 13, 2026, and has now extended the boost twice: first through August 19, then, in a Tuesday-evening post, through August 31. Anthropic says it hopes to make the change permanent, but warns that strong demand means capacity may be tight in the coming weeks. The separate 5-hour session limits were never part of the deal, and free plans and consumption-based Enterprise seats were never included. Nothing is promised past August 31, so if your week depends on the extra headroom, the safe plan is still to budget for standard limits from September 1.

Claude and Claude Code went down for nearly three hours
Claude, the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork all degraded starting 16:11 UTC Tuesday, hitting Opus 5, Sonnet 5, Haiku 4.5, Fable 5, and Mythos 5 at once. Anthropic's status page shows a fix at 18:26 UTC and full resolution by 19:01, just under three hours total. It's the second major coding-platform outage in two days: GitHub was down seven and a half hours Monday. Neither company has said what broke.
Why these two run together. Same company, same day: the outage resolved at 19:01 UTC Tuesday, and Anthropic's extension announcement went out later that evening, with a capacity-may-be-tight warning attached. Anthropic hasn't connected the two, and we aren't either. But a reader planning their week around Claude Code needs both facts, not just one.

Linear's new data: AI now writes half of all issues
Linear's own product data (from 127,000 paid users active in both January and June 2026) says AI now authors nearly half of all issues (Linear's term for a tracked task) on its platform — Linear's own telemetry, not an independent audit. Pull requests are up 111% over two years, and teams using coding agents roughly tripled their weekly output, from 21 to 65. Product-team adoption grew fastest, up 22 points to over a third of users.
Qualcomm's Modular fully open-sources the Mojo compiler
Modular, the AI-infrastructure company Qualcomm acquired in July, put its Mojo compiler under the Apache 2.0 license, one week after Mojo hit its 1.0 release. Mojo is a Python-like language built for writing fast AI and GPU code; the standard library and most kernel code were already open, but the compiler itself was the missing piece. Modular also opened its cloud platform and added Windows support built with Microsoft. Contributions to the compiler start by year's end.
